1000 happy days - Day 210

We watched "the nature of things" tonight about the monsoon in India.  Pretty cool, actually.  

What made me happy inside was when my Dad pointed out the song playing in the background - the raga for rain, or, "Raga Malhar".  I was vaguely aware of music playing in the background, but of course my Father's keen and vast knowledge of all music/poetry/language in Urdu and Sanskrit brought it to the forefront of my awareness.  I like learning these things from my Dad.   I really do love it, in fact.  ❤

I've been admittedly cynical lately, but this raga made me feel that feeling of happy pure romance again.  I love Indian classical music, and this made my heart soften a little.....

You can search for this raga on YouTube and listen to it, though it looks like there are variations of this out there.

Legend has it that singing this Raga will cause the rain to fall in great amounts.  Appropriate choice of music for a show about the monsoon in India.
